Edwin Shackleton has soared in a hot air balloon, spun on a rickshaw and even saddled up a pony over the last three years in his bid to enter the record books.
Other modes of transport piloted by Shackleton have included a tank, a quad bike, a hovercraft and a yacht.
Shackleton, who worked as an aircraft structural test engineer until 1987, said that he was inspired to launch his record attempt after watching adventurer Charley Boorman's show By Any Means.
"I was wondering what I could do instead," he noted. "Then I saw a TV programme where Charley Boorman went from Ireland to Australia using 100 different types of transport. So I decided to do the same here."
Shackleton already holds the record for flying in the greatest variety of aircraft, which he achieved in his 70s.
