The unidentified minor has been accused of stealing several Galaxy bars (called Dove in the US) from three different shops in Southend, England, including from a Co-op supermarket.
The ban will last until his first court hearing later this month and has been imposed to deter the suspect from reoffending, reports the Southend Standard.
Local police sergeant Nick Eliot defended the ban, stating: "With bail conditions, there are some fairly standard things - curfew, to live and sleep at certain addresses or you can't go to certain roads.
"We have a fairly stringent set of criteria, and we have to justify each and every bail condition. We have to take in consideration human rights."
The magistrates will determine if the ban should stick, though Eliot admitted that it would be unlikely.
He said: "Whether they'd maintain something like that at court, I'd probably say not... The courts have different criteria to us, which makes things a bit difficult at times."
