A hamster sits on a cat - picture

We've seen some brave rodents in our time - the mice which roam the tracks of the London Underground are pretty tough cookies for a start.

But we think this tiny hamster is even more courageous. Here he sits in a pet shop in Nanning, Guangxi Province, China on top of his natural enemy.



This hamster is something special, but cats are pretty incredible creatures too, as Digital Spy has found out recently.

There was a missing kitty which was found safe and sound at JFK Airport after being lost for seven weeks.

And then there was an Austrian man who was saved by his furry felines when his house caught fire.

Cats of course are famously great survivors, as proved by one surviving a 12th floor fall from a building and another living through a crossbow bolt to the head.
