Driver gets £70 fine after double yellow lines painted under car

Patrick McCrystal explained that he regularly parks his car between a gap of double yellow lines, but was angered when he found that someone had attempted to extend the lines underneath his car.
The petrol station worker said: "I couldn't believe my eyes. They had extended the existing set of lines underneath my car, then a warden had slapped a ticket on it.
"When I parked there were double yellows in front of my car, double yellows behind my car, but nothing in between. It has been my regular spot for two years and there was nothing to indicate I couldn't park there."
The Derby City Council later rescinded the fine, and admitted that the ticket was given in error.
The council's David Gartside told Metro: "It appears that there was a communication breakdown between our contractors undertaking the lining work and our enforcement officers. We apologise for any inconvenience."
A similar incident occurred in 2008 in Leeds, when double yellow lines were painted around a parked car.
