The £50,000-a-year placement would involve secretly "partaking of sexual services" on behalf of local councils in New South Wales.
The Lyonswood Investigations and Forensic Group in Sydney put up the job placement titled 'Brothel Buster Investigator' in My Career magazine.
Hopefuls are requested to be unmarried and single, while also prepared to have protected sex with prostitutes and to later appear in court to provide evidence.
Manager Lachlan Jarvis explained that the job would involve attending suspected illegal brothels in order to prove that sexual services were on offer.
"Some jobs require the offering of sexual services, some actually require the partaking of sexual services... because it is considered the most convincing evidence," he said.
He added that the job advert has so far been popular with hopefuls from Sydney.
"We had dozens if not more than that apply, it was certainly a popular job. The perfect job for a male," he said.
