The suspect was found in Cochrane with five tonnes of ice taken from the Jorge Montt Glacier in his truck.
National newspaper El Mercurio reports that the total value of the 'stolen' ice is around three million pesos (£4,000 / $6,000).
The suspect may also face charges under the National Monuments Act.
The ice from the glacier in question - in the Patagonia region - was headed towards the city of Santiago. It would have been used to make gourmet ice cubes for bars and restaurants, according to BBC News.
