The US show, which originally aired between 1994 and 1998 on children's network Nickelodeon, was judged to contain "potentially dangerous behaviour that may be copied".
Alex Mack's certificate ranks it in the same category as recent horror films including Paranormal Activity 3 and Insidious. The BBFC previously ruled that a Saved by the Bell DVD was not suitable for viewers under 12.
Larisa Oleynik played the title character in The Secret World of Alex Mack, a young girl who gains strange powers after being dowsed by chemicals.
A young Jessica Alba also made numerous appearances in a supporting role throughout the show's four-season run.
The Secret World of Alex Mack seasons one and two are available on demand through Amazon and iTunes in the US, while season one of the show is released on DVD in the UK on Monday, April 2.
