The 'beautiful' journalist's name, Samantha Brick, trended on Twitter while her original story currently has over 97,000 likes on Facebook and 5,000 comments.
Yesterday's article started by telling the tale of when Brick received a bottle of champagne on a flight courtesy of the captain: "You're probably thinking 'what a lovely surprise'. But while it was lovely, it wasn't a surprise. At least, not for me."
It went on to detail the trials and tribulations of someone "this pretty" including not receiving promotions at work, being held in suspicion by friends and never being made a bridesmaid.
In response, celebrities and the public alike took to Twitter to ridicule the journalist.
Magician Derren Brown tweeted: "Hilarious. I wish I had such an inflated view of my looks RT @JRhodesPianist: Someone pls tell me it's a spoof..."
DJ Lauren Laverne wrote: "Why do people WRITE articles like this? And why am I reading it?"
Comedian Dom Joly simply stated: "I have just filed for divorce and put my kids up for adoption. The reason? The vain hope that I might one day meet Samantha Brick."
However, Brick took to the Mail once again to respond to the criticism by proclaiming: "This bile just proves I'm right."
The new article, replete with photographs of the "good-looking" journalist in a number of poses, claimed: "The past 24 hours have been, to be blunt, among the most horrendous of my life" and criticised commenters for calling her ugly and judging her on looks.
