A young couple from Kansas married in an outdoor ceremony, despite a tornado only being several miles away.
The weather - not out of the ordinary in Kansas - caused a video of the wedding to become viral, gaining widespread media coverage and over 20,000 hits on YouTube.
The outdoor service took place on the groom's family farm near the south-central town of Harper. While the ceremony was happening, the tornado was approximately eight to ten miles away, causing damage to farms and wind turbines.
The National Weather Service classified it as a EF-3 storm with winds of between 138 to 167 miles per hour.
After the ceremony, the couple had their wedding photos taken with the twister evident in the background. Groom Caleb Pence seemed unfazed by the storm, but his bride Candra was less relaxed as she had never seen a tornado before.
When asked by The AP what he thought of his extraordinary wedding day, Caleb said: "I don't know how we did it, it boggles my mind how perfect it worked."
