80-year-old in near-death skydiving incident - video

An 80-year-old woman has been caught on video in a terrifying skydiving incident.

The footage shows the pensioner, named Laverne, speaking confidently about her jump beforehand.



When asked why she has decided to go skydiving, Laverne says that she has wanted to do it "for 40 years", and declares confidently: "Today's the day!"

But things did not go to plan.

The woman suffered an attack of nerves as the moment to jump approached, and can be seen pushing against the sides of the plane to prevent the skydive from taking place.

Her instructor, however, pushes her out, at which point her harness comes loose.

She is then shown hurtling towards the ground, hanging out of her straps, at an estimated 120mph.

Fortunately it turns out okay, with Laverne landing shaken but safe.
