'The Wire' turned into musical by Funny or Die - video
The video, which received over 100,000 views just a few hours after its release on Tuesday, turns storylines from the critically-acclaimed HBO drama into musical show tunes.
It features several of the original show's actors reprising their roles from the drama, including Michael K Williams as Omar, Sonja Sohn as Kima Greggs, and Larry Gillard Jr as D'Angelo Barksdale.
The cable series, which ran from 2002 to 2008, has won praise for its realistic depiction of how the drug trade affects inner city Baltimore, and has been publicly championed by the likes of President Obama and US Attorney General Eric Holder.
The video takes some of the show's most famous moments and translates them into song, including D'Angelo's use of chess as a metaphor for the drug game, and Omar's courtroom confrontation with a drug lawyer.
This is the first time Michael K Williams has reprised his role as fan favourite Omar on screen since the show ended five years ago. He has recently appeared in cult comedy Community, and will next be seen playing the title role in the Ol' Dirty Bastard biopic Dirty White Boy.
