Roger Pion destroyed six of the vehicles in a 'monster-truck'-sized farm tractor, reportedly in a rage at his recent arrest for resisting arrest and marijuana possession.
According to The Huffington Post, by the time officers ran outside the building to see the commotion, the tractor was already heading down the road.
The policemen were left helpless because, as Chief Deputy Philip Brooks noted: "We had nothing to pursue him with."
The cost of the damage is estimated to be around $250,000 (£159,363).
Since the story was reported, Pion has received a huge amount of support online, with T-shirts being printed and advertisement paraodies being made in his honour.
A Facebook page called 'Roger Pion, the magnificent' has received over 2,300 likes, and has set up a donation fund to contribute to his defence costs.
