'Secret Swimming', based in Oxfordshire, England, held its first meeting at Cornbury Park, reports Wired.co.uk.
The group had never met each other before but the event saw good numbers attend the last-minute dip. Locations are kept secret as long as possible before being released to the club.
The newly-formed group aims to bring individuals together to swim in the most scenic locations, completely nude.
The idea came from Fabien Riggall, the creator of Secret Cinema. Secret Swimming describes itself as "a worldwide community of underwater people who are passionate about swimming and discovering secret places".
Riggall described the event as "fun" and "a bit different", adding that the event had been well-received and had provoked a lot of interest. The dip took place at the Wilderness Festival, a weekend-long festival thought to have been attended by around 10,000 people.
"When you go skinny dipping late at night on a beach somewhere with a group of friends, it's an amazing experience," he stated.
It is not yet known if the group managed to break the record as final numbers have yet to be announced.
