The Hamburg resident, only known as Ernst-Gernot M, had a heated argument with a fellow citizen over a parking space.
The 68-year-old was punished by the judge by lying about his wealth, according to The Local.
Ernst-Gernot stated that he was a "poor man" when in fact he was a well-off property dealer. He was fined 30 days' income, equivalent to around £47,500 ($75,000).
His defending lawyer argued: "My client is an elderly gentleman who always maintains his composure. If he did say the word 'arsehole', then he would have done it so quietly that no-one could have heard it."
The judge, who also banned the elderly man from driving, said: "It was probably Hamburg's most expensive insult ever."
