A New York hotel has surprised passers-by with its visible toilets.
The 18th floor of the exclusive Boom Boom Room club at the Standard Hotel contains toilets that are entirely visible to people outside.
The toilets have 10-foot windows from floor-to-ceiling, exposing the patrons to anyone outside that may be looking, while also giving the users themselves a great view of the city.
"The view outside is exciting, but the view inside is frightening," visitor David Langdon from Australia told the New York Daily News.
"I saw people waving at me! Sitting on the royal throne, you don't expect a public viewing."
Tourists visiting the nearby High Line park are able to see into the hotel, which has a long row of cubicles lining the building.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Cameron Diaz are known visitors of the club and rooftop lounge at the hotel.
Not all patrons are bothered about the peep-show quality of the toilets, with Florentina Ballesteros saying: "Who cares? So people know you have to pee? The view was wonderful both ways!"
Since opening in 2009, the Standard Hotel has become notorious for people engaging in public sexual activities in front of its windows, despite people being able to see below.
The hotel was used for a sex scene featuring Michael Fassbender and Amy Hargreaves in the movie Shame.
