Toy train goes into space - video

Many of us had Thomas the Tank Engine train toys as kids, but few of us did anything as cool as this with them.

Ron Fugelseth attached his son's treasured Stanley to a weather balloon (and his son let him!) complete with an HD camera and mobile phone for a GPS signal. And here's what happened:



"My 4-year-old and Stanley are inseparable like Calvin and Hobbes," Ron explained.

"He's been attached to him since he was two, and they play, sleep and do everything together.

"I animated Stanley's face with After Effects and Photoshop to bring him to life how I imagine my son sees him."

Ron added that he took all the necessary safety measures for the trip, adding: "I didn't want Stanley to be a murderer. Plus I wanted to make sure my son got Stanley back. :)"
