Pilot fakes plane crash for wedding proposal - video

A pilot has come up with a unique way of proposing to his girlfriend.

Ryan Thompson was treating partner Carly Kennedy to a romantic flight on his small plane back in February, when he pretended that he was experiencing problems.

Filming the journey, Thompson asked his girlfriend to read him out the 'ring engagement procedure'' while he tried to take control of the plane.

However, as she continued to read aloud the manual's commands, it became clear that it was actually an elaborate hoax.



During the instructions, a command asking "will you marry me?" helped turn his girlfriend's fear into elation, before accepting his proposal.

Appearing on Good Morning America, Kennedy said: "I genuinely did believe that we were going to die.

"I felt that our lives depended on me reading that checklist."

She added: "A lot of women that I've the told story to have said, 'I would have slapped him'."
