Shop manager 'steals' back sofas from robbers - video
CCTV footage shows the two men hastily putting the sofas in the back of a transit van. Before the robbers drive off, manager Justin Hallet jumps in the back, quickly pulling out the two sofas, and leaves the robbers empty handed.
Mark Kypta, the owner of Northampton's Sofa King, told the Daily Mail: "We couldn't believe their audacity of just coming round the back of the store at our busiest time and brazenly loading the van with our sofas.
"Our prices aren't exactly high, so they must have been pretty desperate. Luckily Justin, not even thinking of his own safety, ran out and jumped into the back of the van and got the sofas back."
Kypta commended Hallet for his bravery: "'I think he's in line for a Christmas bonus now. He was pretty brave." He also said that the footage looked like it should have a "Benny Hill soundtrack to it" and described the moment as "a bit bizarre".
Even though the shop manager was able to get back the stock, the owner added: "On a serious note, we want these guys caught because we don't want other businesses to be targeted."
