The child was in the car with his mother when the vehicle was rammed by a 250-pound stag before being crushed by a train.
His terrified mother Anita Koller tried to tear him from his seat but was thrown from the vehicle when the train hit them at full speed at the crossing in Oberengadin, Switzerland.
A witness revealed: "They were hit by a deer which knocked them over onto the car's roof, and it slid straight onto the tracks just as a train was coming. It didn't seem that either of them had a prayer."
However, rescuers were amazed when both the mother and child emerged from the accident unhurt.
A spokesperson for the fire service that was involved with the rescue said: "The train hit the car so hard that it was derailed. They really were extraordinarily lucky."
