36-year-old Ceri from Morriston in South Wales said: "We were looking forward to our dream honeymoon but Teeto had to come first.
"He's such a special dog, we had no hesitation. We had to use the money for his vets bills."
Clare, 26, added: "We told the vet that it didn't matter about the money, just do whatever it takes to make him better.
"We can go on honeymoon again when we've saved up but a dog is for life and we want Teeto around for a lot longer."
In the end, 5-year-old Teeto had his right leg amputated in order to fight the cancer in his right shoulder.
As well as the amputation, he has also undergone a course of chemotherapy but is now said to be doing well.
