Barack Obama, Mitt Romney in new Bad Lip Reading video - watch

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney have been given the 'Bad Lip Reading' treatment.

A new viral clip sees the presidential candidates dubbed with nonsensical sentences and phrases during their first live TV debate.

The clip turns even more surreal when host Jim Lehrer instructs the politicians to hum along to his avant-garde-style song titled 'Eye of the Sparrow'.



"The hot tub is cool now," Romney tells Obama, while Obama says at one point: "I see a purple idiot - German, with a big spunky Labradoodle puppy."

Obama, whom Lehrer keeps calling 'Ahmed', then proceeds to fall asleep at the end of the clip, with Romney declaring: "It's party time, chumps!"

The 'Bad Lip Reading' YouTube channel has released clips involving The Hunger Games, Coldplay and the Black Eyed Peas among others.

A dubbed version of Twilight has been watched over 11 million times since it was uploaded last month.
