John Lennon's 'Imagine' is one of the songs most banned by funeral homes, according to a new study.
It was revealed this week that songs by Adele and Robbie Williams were the most popular for funerals, but now it has been revealed that over a quarter of suggested funeral songs do not get played because they are deemed offensive, The Mirror reports.
The study, which was carried out by Co-operative Funeralcare, showed that some funeral homes refuse to play Lennon's hit because of the line 'Imagine there's no heaven'.
Other songs included in the banned list were 'Disco Inferno' by The Trammps' - as it contains the words "Burn, baby burn" - and Meat Loaf's 'Bat Out of Hell'.
The study also showed that pop music has now become a popular choice at funerals, instead of traditional hymns.
One funeral had the Countdown theme tune playing as the curtain was closing at a crematorium, the survey noted.
