Two parents and their 19-year-old daughter were asleep in their flat in Rollhausen, Lower Saxony on Friday morning (October 26) when a SWAT police unit forced their way in.
The masked officers burst into the couple's bedroom and pointed their guns at them, according to The Local.
"They tied me up with cable binders," the male resident said. "I cried out in pain."
It was only then that the unit, looking for a 45-year-old man who had earlier threatened someone with a weapon, asked for the tenant's name.
When it became clear they had made a mistake, the armed policemen apologised to the family. They will repair the damage caused.
Otto Moneke, head of the police department in Duderstadt, said that they had got the wrong floor in the block of flats.
"We were thwarted by an error in internal communication," he stated. "We have already apologised."
