Marchup Midge was sold to Suffolk shepherd Eddie Thornalley, 45, who will use her to take charge of five other dogs which look after his flock of 200 sheep.
He is thrilled to have bought the 18-month-old sheepdog and believes her work ethic and sweet nature make her worth every penny.
"I've had my eye on her since she was about 12 months old," Thornalley said.
World champion breeder Shaun Richards was "gobsmacked" to have sold her for such a large amount of money.
He said: "I'm sad to see her go but I do this for a living, so I am also happy to see the amazing amount of money."
Midge is the third dog Thornalley has bought from Richards, and Thornalley said he keeps buying them because they come from a family of outstanding champions.
"She is very well bred with excellent workability," he stated. "She's absolutely fantastic."
The previous record was 6,000 guineas (£6,300), which was set last year.
