Firefighters called over fireplace DVD in Sweden

Emergency services were reportedly called to a building in Sweden over concerns of a fire.

However, the firefighters were surprised to find that the sighting was actually a DVD of a burning fireplace.



Staff at the adjacent elderly care home in Jönköping contacted the fire department on Wednesday (October 31), after spotting what they thought was a fire flickering in a window.

"It was in an apartment building and because they work where they do and there was a door code for the residential building, they had no way of getting in," firefighter Jerker Sturedahl told Expressen.

"They called us and alerted us of a fire," he added. "We quickly realised that it was one of those DVDs of a fireplace."

Police officer Göran Gunnarson joked to local news agency TT: "We even stayed and watched the fire for a while afterward."
