Susan Warren of Elyria admitted to breaking into the home in Cleveland, Ohio in June, cleaning it and then leaving a bill for $75 (£45) along with her contact details.
When the homeowner, Sherry Bush, found the bill she assumed that the 'cleaning fairy' had got the wrong house and called her to try to resolve the matter.
However, she discovered that the 53-year old hadn't made a mistake and instead admitted to cleaning the house because she "wanted something to do".
When she broke in, she washed some coffee cups, took out the rubbish, vacuumed and dusted inside the house before leaving her details on a napkin.
Warren said that she owns a cleaning business and sometimes enters homes, cleans them and leaves a bill.
No items were stolen from the home, and she is due to be sentenced at a later date.
