'Dumb Ways to Die' safety animation video goes viral - watch

An animated safety video from Australia has gone viral.

The clip - titled 'Dumb Ways to Die' - features a collection of cute cartoon characters suffering horrific deaths due to silly decisions.



The video was made as part of a safety campaign from Melbourne Metro Trains, and has been viewed nearly 11 million times since it was uploaded last week.

The song in the video is performed by local duo Tangerine Kitty.

"We're not surprised that this campaign has been well received but you can never predict the speed and take-up which, in this case, has been amazing," a representative for Metro Trains told Courier Mail.

"In the limited testing we did among our families, everyone really liked it so we felt sure it would work."
