Jamie Froom in Bristol was told in court that he had to contribute chores or otherwise face jail, reports The Mirror.
The 18-year-old was responsible for two robberies along with two juveniles.
The judge said to Froom: "You can make your bed every day, do the washing up and respect your mum and dad."
Froom commented afterwards: "I think he was a bit strict saying I have to tidy my room or go to prison. I'm going to try, though."
His mother, on the other hand, said: "I thought what the judge said was good. I appreciated it."
Froom was also sentenced to 120 hours of community service and six months of drug rehabilitation.
