Captain Planet has returned to face his greatest enemy yet - bad press.
House of Lies' Don Cheadle has reprised the role of the 1990s cartoon superhero in a newly-released spoof from Funny or Die, which sees Captain Planet seek revenge on polluters across the globe.
However, Captain Planet's commitment to saving the environment at all costs has earned him few friends from mankind, especially for turning his enemies into trees and vegetation.
"The power is mine and my burden to bear," Captain Planet says in cryptic narration. "My blessing. My curse. One day there will be no humans and all creatures will be my friends."
A message at the parody's conclusion hints at a continuing story for the troubled Captain Planet and his dream of ridding planet Earth of all humanity.
The original Captain Planet and the Planeteers - which aired from 1990 to 1996 - carried a light-hearted message for children to take care of the environment.
