The officer was off duty and on a work night out when he lost his temper.
He was reportedly angered when two women in the shop poked fun at the costume that one of his colleagues was wearing.
It was claimed that he punched one of the girls in the face, knocking her to the floor.
His colleagues stepped in to stop the brawl but the officer, who has not been named, was later held on suspicion of assault and suspended, according to The Mirror.
The group of policemen had been at a fundraiser for a fellow officer who is suffering from motor neurone disease when they visited the Pizza King takeaway in Wigan at 1.40am on Thursday (December 28).
A worker at the Pizza King did reveal that there had been a scuffle.
He said: "There were about 20 people in here, it was very busy. There was some trouble, some fighting. The police came the other day and took the CCTV away."
Yesterday (December 29), a police spokesperson admitted that the officer has been suspended.
He said: "Greater Manchester police are currently investigating a complaint that a serving officer assaulted a woman at a takeaway in Wigan. He was off-duty at the time."
