Biologist Jason Bond of Auburn University in Alabama named one spider after the U2 frontman after discovering 33 spider breeds, reports WENN.
Bond apparently chose the name Aptostichus bonoi as he found the trapdoor spider living in California's Joshua Tree National Park.
U2's 1987 album was named The Joshua Tree.
However, Bono isn't the only celebrity who has inspired the name of Bond's insect discoveries.
The scientist has also named previous findings after Angelina Jolie, US President Barack Obama, Stephen Colbert and Neil Young.
On Wednesday (January 16), Bono revealed that U2's 13th studio album would be called 10 Reasons to Exist.
