A dolphin has apparently sought help from a diver to be freed from a fishing hook.
Video footage shows how diver Keller Laros helped out the mammal, which had a hook stuck in its dorsal fin.
The rescue took eight minutes, just off the Hawaiian coast.
Laros was leading a group of scuba divers who were observing manta rays when the incident took place.
The dolphin swam towards the group after letting out a cry that was heard by them all.
Laros explained: "The way he came right up and pushed himself into me there was no question this dolphin was there for help.
"I was trying to unwrap it, I got the line fishing hook out of the pectoral fin. There was a line coming out of his mouth.
"I was worried if I tugged on it, it might hurt him more. I was able to cut the fishing line and unwrap it."
