Garrett McNamara has ridden what could be the highest ever wave caught by a surfer.
The American surfed the massive wave off the coast of Portugal in the same area where he previously set the world record of 78ft (24m) in November 2011.
Experts are now looking into the attempt to certify whether it is a new record.
Reports have stated that the wave may have been as high as 100ft (30m), but this is yet to be officially confirmed.
"You are just going so fast," McNamara told ABC News. "It's really, really similar to snowboarding on giant mountains.
"And you're just chattering, flying down this bumpy, bumpy mountain. Your brain is getting rattled. Your whole body is getting rattled."
McNamara has been surfing since the age of 11, before turning professional at 17.
