Spider colony 'falls from sky' in Brazil

A massive spider colony has been filmed 'falling from the sky' in Brazil.

Erick Reis, 20, posted footage online showing thousands of spiders squatting on spider webs they had made across power lines.



The web designer from the southern town of Santo Antônio da Platina caught the creepy sight after leaving a friend's engagement party, G1 reports.

A local biologist confirmed that the phenomenon was "normal".

He said that the spiders are known as Anelosimus eximius - a "social spider" species identified by their massive colonies and the "sheet webs" they produce.
