Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper 'unnecessarily censored' - watch

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper are among those featured in Jimmy Kimmel's latest Unnecessary Censorship sketch.

The regular segment, which aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday (February 28), features the use of bleep sound effects and pixellation - usually used to block out swearing and nudity during TV broadcasts - even though the scenes in question are inoffensive.



"This is our weekly tribute to the FCC, where we bleep and blur things whether they need it or not," said Kimmel, introducing the footage.

During the clip, both effects are used to make it look like the Silver Linings Playbook stars provided profanity-filled answers during interviews.

Puppet characters from PBS children's show Sesame Street are also incriminated by picture pixellation, which makes it look like they are carrying out lewd acts.

In 2011, UK cable TV provider Virgin Media was forced to apologise after its electronic programme guide (EPG) censored innocent words and phrases, including the football team 'Arsenal'.
