Kumars writer and actor Sanjeev Bhaskar is to star in a new ITV comedy set in a Mumbai call centre.

Bhaskar has also co-written the show with veteran comedy writers Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran.

Mumbai Calling will see Bhaskar star as Kenny, a British born Indian working in Mumbai. British actor Nitin Ganatra, who appeared in Bride and Prejudice, is also part of the cast. The show, previously entitled Hello, Delhi, has been partly filmed in India with a local cast.

Independent producer Allan McKeown Presents has produced the pilot, working with Indian company Grey Cells Entertainment. It will be broadcast later this year, with a possible series to follow.
