The 23-year-old builder was in the bottom two alongside Lewis Bradley, 17, after failing to impress the public with his performance of Bruce Springteen's Born To Run. Rob had managed to win praise from the judges, however; particularly Denise Van Outen, who told him that he could be "a very different Joseph".
After the results were announced, Rob and Lewis took to the stage to sing Tell Me It's Not True from musical Blood Brothers. Andrew Lloyd Webber then announced that he had decided to save Lewis.
"I just want to say thank you - for someone who's never had any experience in this - for giving me a chance," Rob said, before bowing out with performances of Poor, Poor Joseph and Any Dream Will Do.
Any Dream Will Do continues next Saturday at 8.10pm on BBC One.
