'Apprentice' Ian slams Kevin for task failure

Former Apprentice contestant Ian Stringer has blamed Kevin Shaw for the failure of their pub food task.

Team leader Stringer was fired by Sir Alan Sugar, who called the boys' team "busy fools" for taking in more money than the girls but having half their profit due to overspending on produce.

Stringer told DS: "I expected him [Kevin] to take over the role of head chef, which is the role he wanted to take and actively put himself forward for.

"It [involved] taking responsibility for the quantity of goods, the predicted numbers of people, working backwards from our margins and working out what we made from our products... He didn't deliver on that, and for that reason I think he should have been fired."

Stringer said he regretted putting Shaw in charge of the boys' Italian menu and balance sheet.

He commented: "I put the banker in charge of numbers, which was a fatal error, wasn't it? He is a bit of a banker, isn't he?"
