Sullivan wins 'Celeb MasterChef' heat

Eamon Sullivan has beaten politician Anna Bligh and Underbelly actor Simon Westaway to make it to the semi-final of Australia's Celebrity MasterChef.

The Olympic swimming champion and his two rivals were told to recreate a crispy duck dish made famous by Sydney chef Kylie Kwong.

Bligh, who was criticised for overcooking her food in the first round, struggled to cut the neck off the duck and to julienne the vegetables. She then deep-fried the duck for too long.

The Queensland Premier, who has been widely criticised for taking part in the programme, said afterwards: "Time to go home and run the state."

Sullivan will face celebrities including INXS musician Kirk Pengilly and The Biggest Loser fitness trainer Michelle Bridges in the semi-final of the cookery competition.
