'Idol' contestant admits alcohol problem

Australian Idol contestant Kim Cooper has revealed that she was hiding alcohol issues and bisexuality during her time in the competition.

The 21-year-old singer, who was voted off the show last weekend, said that before she entered the reality series, she used to binge drink regularly.

Cooper told The Sunday Telegraph: "For me, alcohol was something I loved and it tended to seduce me more than it should have. I was a massive binger. I've got alcoholism deep down both lines of my family."

She continued: "You try to learn from other people's mistakes and see the warning signs and go, 'I don't want to end up like that.'"

Claiming that it has been six months since she last drank alcohol, Cooper also revealed that she kept her bisexuality hidden during the show in case viewers would be prejudiced.

She said: "It's not that I wasn't open on the show; it was something that never came up and I don't think it's something to flaunt. I'm not the type of girl who makes out with other girls at clubs for free drinks."

Cooper added: "I feel the term 'bisexuality' has such a stigma attached to it because of girls who behave like that. I was with my last girlfriend for over a year and we lived together."
