Tim Westwood to host UK 'Pimp My Ride'

Hip-hop DJ Tim Westwood has been announced as the host for the UK version of Pimp My Ride.

Each episode of the hit MTV series features a clapped-out car getting the ultimate makeover. Improvements to 'pimped rides' in the original US show, fronted by rapper Xzibit, have included built-in DVD players and home entertainment systems and even chandeliers, coffee makers and vanity areas.

"Pimp My Ride is BIG. What they do to the cars is incredible; it’s inspiring," said Westwood. "Xzibit is a close friend, when I heard that MTV UK were making a version of the show for the UK, I got straight on the phone! Can you imagine the bling machines we’re going to create that’ll be cruising down your local high street? We’re gonna be CRAZY!"

The UK version is set to air over 6 x 30-minute episodes later this summer.
