A 1961 Bentley once owned by James Bond star Sir Sean Connery has fetched more than £17,000 at auction, reports the Press Association.

The car was one of 33 vehicles sold at a Rolls-Royce and Bentley sale at Kelmarsh Hall, Northamptonshire, over the weekend.

The Bentley's logbook revealed that Connery owned the car for five years from July 5, 1974. The S2 Saloon was expected to sell for between £12,000 and £15,000 but eventually went for £17,825.

Tickets to the launch of Connery's first book Being A Scot at the Edinburgh Literary Festival recently sold out within an hour of being made available to the public.
