Heather Locklear is undergoing treatment for anxiety and depression.

The actress, who is best known for her roles in TV shows Dynasty and Melrose Place, has checked into a medical centre in Arizona.

Her spokeswoman Cece Yorke told People: "Heather has been dealing with anxiety and depression. She requested an in-depth evaluation of her medication and entered into a medical facility for proper diagnosis and treatment."

Locklear, 46, reportedly began taking medication after she filed for divorce from Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora in 2006. He subsequently began a relationship with her friend Denise Richards.

The couple have ten-year-old daughter Ava.

Locklear's doctor allegedly called 911 in March over fears that she may commit suicide.
