Guy Ritchie has been given new hope of a reconciliation with Madonna after she asked him to stay on in New York.
The film director travelled to the Big Apple last week in an attempt to end speculation about the future of his marriage. Guy and Madonna were soon spotted enjoying a meal together at an Italian restaurant in the city.
Insiders suggest that Ritchie and Madonna have reached a temporary truce. Guy will now remain in the city for two more weeks, looking after their three children while Madonna rehearses for her forthcoming Sticky and Sweet world tour.
A source told the Sunday Mirror: "Guy flew to New York for a public show of unity. They wanted to be pictured out for dinner. It was purely designed to silence reports about their marriage woes even though they have been living completely separate lives for months.
"But things have gone well in New York. Guy has looked after the kids and will stay for at least a fortnight."
Reports have previously claimed that Madonna and Guy planned to announce their decision to divorce in November.
