Beckham puzzled by US accents

David Beckham has confessed that he sometimes struggles to understand what his Los Angeles Galaxy teammates are saying.

The football star told The Sun that the language obstacle worked both ways: "I must say I've had a few issues on that front. I sometimes say something and some of the players don't understand me. Then they say things and I don't have a clue what they are going on about.

"The other day a teammate said they had a raspberry, or it may have been strawberry. I can't remember. They were talking about a grass burn! I couldn't get my head around that one."

Beckham added that he hadn't picked up a US accent after 12 months in the country, but his sons were starting to sound American.

"They're at school every day and learning different things about America. This is to be expected," he commented.
