Josh Hartnett has confessed that he would ditch his movie career if he could be a rock star.

The actor named music as his biggest interest this week at the New York premiere of his new movie August, which sees him playing an ambitious internet entrepreneur.

Hartnett told Fashionweekdaily.com: "The internet thing was never really a draw for me. I'd rather be a rock star. I'm more interested in bands than I am in movies!"

Speaking about his character Tom Sterling, Josh added: "[He] is really the salesman - he can sell a refrigerator to a penguin. The trick with sales is that you're the one person in the world with all the answers - without being obnoxious!"

Hartnett recently signed up to star in a West End version of 1988 movie Rain Man.
