Depp installs green power at island home

Johnny Depp is reportedly installing state-of-the-art solar-powered technology at his Bahamas home in a bid to make it self-sufficient.

The actor will be one of the first people in the world to fit the £250,000 grid-independent solar hydrogen system at his island property, claims the Daily Star.

The technology converts sunlight into electricity and will provide unlimited environmentally-friendly energy.

Depp bought the 40-acre island for £1.5 million in 2005 as a getaway for himself, girlfriend Vanessa Paradis and their children Lily-Rose, nine, and six-year-old Jack.

He was recently shortlisted for the greenest star gong at Playhouse Disney's Playing for the Planet Awards.
