Amy Winehouse will be discharged from hospital today after receiving treatment for a reaction to "medication".

The troubled singer has stayed at London's University College Hospital overnight after being rushed to its A&E department in an ambulance yesterday evening.

A spokeswoman for the hospital confirmed that the star was "bearing up well" and would be discharged shortly.

Speaking last night, Amy's spokesman Chris Goodman revealed: "Amy Winehouse suffered a reaction to medication at home this evening and was taken to hospital. Doctors have advised that she will be kept under observation overnight and is likely to be released tomorrow."

Winehouse's father Mitch played down fears for her health when he arrived at the hospital last night. Asked about his daughter's condition, he held up a bag of KFC food and replied: "This is how serious it is."

Amy was diagnosed with the early stages of lung condition emphysema after collapsing at her home last month. It has also been claimed that she is suffering from heart problems as a result of her drug abuse.
