Paul Newman has told his family that he wants to die at home, according to the Daily Mail.
The veteran actor, who recently completed chemotherapy treatment for cancer, has reportedly been informed that he has "only a few weeks to live".
A source is quoted as saying: "Paul didn't want to die in the hospital. Joanne (Woodward, the actor's wife) and his daughters are beside themselves with grief."
The family has allegedly struggled to come to terms with the news that Newman, a keen race-driver and owner of Newman's Own salad dressings company, is close to death.
"He gave a prized car - a Ferrari with his racing number 82 on it - to a long-time pal," the source added. "The sudden move angered his children. It's especially hard for them to come to grips with what's going on.
"The word they've been given is that he has only a few weeks to live."
Newman's 50-year career has included iconic roles in Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid, The Hustler, Hud and Cool Hand Luke. A ten-time Oscar nominee, he took home an Academy Award for his role in The Colour Of Money.
