Paul McCartney has been snubbing five-star hotels in favour of camping under the stars on his latest holiday with Nancy Shevell.
The couple have been enjoying a road trip along the US's Route 66 in a Ford Bronco truck in recent days. They joined the route in Illinois over a week ago and are expected to spend a month following it to Los Angeles.
An onlooker who saw the pair camping out told the Daily Mail: "It was incredible to see one of the world's richest musicians going back to basics. They didn't seem to have a care in the world."
A source close to McCartney added: "The road trip was Nancy's idea as a way of them getting to bond and spend time together - just the two of them."
McCartney and Shevell started dating late last year. Their romance follows Paul's high-profile split from Heather Mills.
